Elizabeth graduated from DePaul University College of Law in 1994. Elizabeth’s legal career began in Chicago at the Cook County State’s Attorney Office, handling paternity and child support disputes on behalf of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
In 1997, Elizabeth moved to Minnesota From 1997 to 1999, Elizabeth continued her work in governmental practice as a prosecutor with the Pine County Attorney’s Office and later with the St. Paul City Attorney’s Office. She prosecuted all types of misdemeanor and felony cases ranging from traffic violations to DWI to arson to kidnapping.
In 1999, Elizabeth accepted employment with Minnesota Attorney General’s Office as an Assistant Attorney General. Between 1999 and 2007, Elizabeth counseled the Department of Human Services in the areas of licensing and social services, prosecuted white collar crimes and crimes against vulnerable adults in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, and civilly committed sexual predators while working in the Public Protection Division.
In 2007, Elizabeth was recruited to work as in-house counsel for a national health insurance company. There, Elizabeth managed litigation in the lines of business that insured Medicaid and Medicare recipients. She also oversaw cases involving employee disputes and advised the business segment responsible for defending the company before Administrative Law Judges in Medicare disputes. Elizabeth was also a founding member of the company’s Pro Bono Committee and helped the company identify pro bono opportunities and establish standards and rules for the program.
In December 2008, Elizabeth joined Mark A. Smith to form Wrobel & Smith, PLLP.
